I recently discovered PhotoScape X while looking for a photo editor. Initially, I was not excited with the low price; but I quickly fell in love with the app. It was one of the easiest picture editing apps I have found – if I can teach my wife to use it! PhotoScape X has a great and very precise tools, which allow to change the color and texture of pictures. Especially, if you are dealing with espionage or computer forensics you will need this feature. However, if you are an amateur photographer or if you just want to colorize or degrade your pictures, you can easily get rid of unwanted colors. There is also a tool to eliminate red photo backgrounds in PhotoScape X.
The first step is to open the image in the application. Then open the tools palette on the right. You should see the functions under the basic panel. On the following screen, the left panel should be filled with the tools. For instance, we have a brush named ‘photo’ and a few others. Selecting the brush, you can paint the part of the image that you want to restore. If you then click on the canvas or, open the canvas tool, you will see a very similar image. You can restore the colors by using the tools or, you can select a color and restore it using the color restoration tool. If you want to get rid of the photo background, use the Background eraser tool.
Important: There are 5 different type of brushes in PhotoScape X. Their purpose is to change picture background, adjust the color and delete unwanted colors/objects. However, you can use any of the brushes on the image to remove objects or parts of the image. For instance, you can use the Borken brush to remove backdrops, but you can also use the Straighten brush to correct lens distortion.
